Manifesto
Vision
An open, interdisciplinary platform for the future of architecture and drawing.
The challenge of our time
Palladianist stems from the conviction that the universal legacy of Andrea Palladio — his principles of harmony, proportion and beauty — is not a monument of the past to be preserved, but a living source of intelligence from which to generate new knowledge.
At a historical moment in which technology is radically transforming our relationship with knowledge and creativity, we must ask: which principles of the past can guide the future? How can the humanistic tradition engage with artificial intelligence?
The founding question
Does the algorithm to generate new intelligence lie hidden in the transmission of traditions, in the innovation of practices and in the wisdom of the world?
The founding principles
- Drawing as a tool of knowledge and design
- Scientific dissemination as a responsible cultural act
- The dialogue between humanistic tradition and emerging technologies
- The enhancement of heritage as an active, non-celebratory process
The platform
Palladianist, an open and interdisciplinary platform, addresses scholars, designers, students and institutions interested in a critical and conscious approach to architecture.
Palladianist promotes the online collection and dissemination of scientific research, editorial projects, archival drawings, cultural content and insights into the tools and technologies of drawing.
The publisher
Palladianist is a project of INTBAU Italia — Social Promotion Association (Bologna). INTBAU, the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (London), was founded in 2001 under the patronage of the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles III (www.intbau.org).
